The gun show this weekend was a little different in that I actually found several things I was interested in at fairly reasonable prices. What I decided on was something I had been wanting for a while: a S&W Victory Model. It seems to be in really good shape: finish is probably 75% or better, all of the numbers match, the bore is really nice, and it seems to be very sound mechanically. It is in .38 S&W (great just what I needed, another hard to find caliber.
)
The serial number is V3359XX. Can anyone give me an estimate on its production date? Nothing I have shows anything other than the date range of the victory model series.
The only downside is that the grips are not original, they number to an earlier gun and don't fit all that well. They are proud all the way around, but I really don't have any desire to start whittling them down to fit. What is my best option for getting some grips that fit? Does someone make repro grips that I could work (or have worked) to fit?
If the gentlemen who keep the database of Victory models would like to have the particulars on this one, feel free to send an email to the address in my profile and I'll send you the info.
