I have seen a lot of "for sale" posts concerning N frame grips/stocks, making a distinction between pre war and post war. What changes were made in the grip frame, and is the difference enough that grips from one era won't fit the other?

Thanks in advance.

Pre WW II grip frames are slightly longer than post WW II grip frames.

And so to illustrate the point made by Muley, this picture shows the butt of a pre-war N frame revolver wearing post war grips…..the butt strap hangs slightly below the grips.

My question that comes to mind..When did the factory stop the use of the longer pre war frames ??
And are the post war transitionals on the post war
N frame configuration ??
Thanks Randy..

Post war N frame transitionals still have the pre-war size frame and long action hammer along with a number of other pre-war characteristics. The frame size changed in 1950 along with the introduction of the short action hammer.

Thanks Terry
I havent researched it or cked in the 4th Edition info book..But that was my thought..that the current N frame butt conf. came in with the 49-50 era Short Action changeover..
As long as they're N frames Iuv'em All Equally😁😊
My Best Randy..
