Wondering what the opinion is here of these factory (I think) N frame grips. There seems to be a date rather than serial number on them.

I’m not sure if the target stock were serialized. The wood covered most all of the grip frame so fitting was less critical.
I have been wrong before, though.
They look factory to me.

Those are factory N frame target types with a speed loader cutout, yes?

I just sold off plain old N frame targets with the football cutout for $145.00 - EBay, only a few bidders. I think the speed loader version goes for a bit more.

Yeah I guess my question was did they look factory. They seemed a bit “off” to me for some reason

did the factory not always use washers for the medallions?

Could the OP's grips be from the newer "classic" line? I can't recall if the older series guns had factory grips without washers for the medallions.

Maybe the grip experts will chime in. If they are indeed factory and for older guns like a 1979 Model 29-2 I would be in the market and interested at the $150 range.

I still haven't Lettered my 29-2 which shipped in May 1979 per Roy, so I don't know if the presentation grips on it were factory original (I know they are factory...just don't know if they shipped with this gun in May 1979), or should I be looking for nice checkered GA Targets with speed loader cutout (football is usually seen).

Those look like factory speed loader cut stocks to me, the date looks to be 198?. It's not a serial number, S&W stopped putting serial numbers on stocks some time in the 1970's.

This is the last variant of solid wood Target stocks made at the S & W factory, which omitted the stock discs. These started having ink stamped (presumably) production dates in the early 1980s.

They are factory, but I don't recall the medallions having that large a hole on the backside or that shape on the stock circle. The wood (Goncalo) is very nice. Maybe I just have the earlier stocks stuck in my head.

So what are they worth if they are original 1980s factory ? By the way, I did not take these pics. A local guy I have bought stuff from in the past asked if I was interested in these.

I probably wouldn't have asked more than $125 before this thread. I've sold a lot of stocks but most have the metal stock circle inserts (older) and I equate age with value. A quick check of ebay surprised me with some of the prices that these have brought. Check the accessories for sale sub-forum here and you should get a good idea.
