A question for the all knowing masses. My modest handgun collection is all over the board, but almost all revolver. Since I like N frame S&W a lot and I like'em shiny, I have decided to focus on Nickel N frames. I have a 25,a 29 and have a line on a nice 27. Now for the question. Are there any N frames models out there that were never made in Nickel or exceedingly rare? I know the 28 falls into that catagory but I do not know if there are any others.

Thanks all.

The Model 58 would sure be on that list. There were a few, (very few) but most of what you see are factory refinish guns.

Here's a factory nickel M58. It used to belong to a Birmingham, Alabama police officer:

Here is another factory 58 to go with Gil's !

Not common, but not rare either.

This one has the gray box, tools, and original owner's receipt ! :)

I have been looking for a 25-5 in 4 inch barrel in nickel for years! Never seen one for sale, just a few posted here to tease me. Although offered, they are rare. The 25-2 was not offered in nickel that I know of.

Nickel is Nice

I have heard nickel 58s were about 20 to 25 percent of production. I lucked into theis one a few years ago at a gun show. The seller had bought it from a walk-in and replaced the rubber with these smooth ones right before I bought it. I finally found some modified magnas from the same era for it.

This is a four inch model 27-2. There seem to have been a lot of nickel ones from this time frame, 1980 or so. N793xxx range. Jerry I really need to get some Collins grips like you have, they are about the nicest I have ever seen.

How about Model 23's

I do not believe that I have ever seen a nickel 23, or pre-23 38/44 Outdoorsman... BUT, I have seen very few model marked 23's period.
