Name Change Demanded

Listing to the Radio. Was the Rob Arnie & Dawn show in Sacramento Ca. There's a school demanding a kid named
Hunter change his name. Why because the kid is Deaf.
When he's signing to communicate with other people he
uses the correct sign for his name. The school said he's
using his hand to make the shape of a pistol. There threating
to expel the kid over this. There saying it makes them uncomfortable being around the kid.
Things are really getting out of hand.
Thought I'd see what you all think.

Well, I'm not an attorney but if the story is true I think that school district better "prepare for a ram". I think the American's with Disabilties Act takes precedence over their district " policy".

I have no respect at all for these administrators and others like them. Seems there are more and more of them every day.
I say prosecute the school for a hate crime.

It's a true story, but it happened last summer. And the school district said they never asked that Hunter's name be changed. They wanted him to learn a different sign language. He uses S.E.E. and they teach and use ASL.

Nobody could ever be that hung up on political correctness to go that far.

I think that the young man should use his Native American name "Go Pound Sand." This is designated by a flat palm extended outward with the opposite hand making a fist and bringing it down sharply on the extended flat palm.

Hopefully the school administration will go into stupid gear and act accordingly. If they do go into stupid gear... and act accordingly, then the parents and the boy will be in the driver's seat to gain a substantial money judgement. Just think... Americans W/ Disabilities Act, etc. Should be lots of fun to watch.

I can't fathom why so few of you take the school administrators' side on this issue --- I'd be quaking in my boots, maybe even soiling myself, if I were menaced by a deaf three-year-old waving crossed fingers at me, and I'd be shouting, really loudly, pleading with him to quit signing threatening gestures...

Has a lobotomy become a prerequisite for school administration work ???
