I managed to fall, I think it was a week ago Thursday. The only exterior signs were two skinned elbows. I was ready for bed but stopped to check a date on some medicine. I was in the process of putting it back on the dresser and the next thing that I knew I was on the floor. It jarred me pretty bad and I stayed down several minutes before trying to get up.
I can still get down on my knees as long as I have something to grab to help me back up. It took some time to get off of my stomach and up on my knees. I got up and went to bed thinking my only damage was my elbows. The next morning my ribs and back on the right side were beginning to hurt and it smarted pretty bad. It also jammed my lower ribs into my fat gut and that also started to hurt. My lower ribs had previously been damaged and were curved in and that added to the problem.
I thought that I could tough it out and it would get better. Getting in and out of bed and a chair caused me a lot of pain. Thursday I went to the Dr., got some Xrays and I had one cracked rib for certain with two more possible.
The good thing was that the rib was still aligned. I am still going to have to tough it out.
I will be extra careful from now on. This is not fun.

I pray you heal quick, and stay in the upright position unless you want to do otherwise!

Rib pain hurts, and takes it's time healing!

Be careful.

Getting older, falling and pain

I feel sorry for you but I know what you are going thru. I am 73 years old now and when I wake up in the morning I hurt all over until I can take two ibuprofen tablets, then after about 10 minutes I start feeling normal. Try taking some pain reducers until you find something that works for you, thank God it wasn't worse!

A guy I worked with once came to work with a cracked rib. He said he was fine as long as he didn't sneeze or laugh. I looked at him and said, "This guy goes into a bar..." He didn't let me finish, he yelled, "SHUT UP!"

I won't tell you any jokes, I'll just pray for your speedy recovery.

I hear ya brother. I been falling too I feel your pain. The first time I broke ribs on the corner of the bathtub. I suffered from vertigo. I started drinking boost everyday it helped the dizziness. I figure I'm not eating right trying to lose more weight. It's one day at a time.

Graydon I'm sorry to hear of your fall.
Cracked or broken ribs are a big pain . I know as it has happened to me before.

I'll send a prayer for you for a quick healing.

Sorry to hear this. Most of us here are are the far side of just dusting our self off after a fall. Bones don't like it muscles and joints hate it. I took a bad dump off the back of my truck last weekend and I am just now slowly getting out of hobble mode.

I went through the cracked rib thing a year or so ago.
First day...no problem. Next day? Ouch ouch and ouch and please don't let me sneeze!
I wrapped one of those wide elastic belly band holsters around me and just waited it out for a few weeks as it slooowly mended.
I feel for you. You were smart with the doctor and you know the damage and what to do.
I stayed at that holiday inn express and did it myself.
Only dumb luck healed me.
