Speaking as a bald guy, about time, I'd say! (Of course the national bird being in our likeness makes sense!)
I remember reading that Franklin wanted to name the turkey as our national bird. While a majestic creature, the turkey just doesn't have the same gravitas as the bald eagle.
Yet we continue to elect turkeys to run the country. No eagles. Go figure.

The Turkey story is sort of a half-truth. Did Benjamin Franklin propose the turkey as the national symbol?
Anybody surprised it took Congress 240+ years to come to a decision?
Hard to fly with the eagles when surrounded by turkeys!
Did the Jersey Drone finish in second place?
Is the bald eagle not already the National Symbol? Why do we need a law? How about a law making red, white, and blue the national colors
If one is colorblind, would it make a difference?

Interesting. All through school we were taught that the Bald Eagle was the National Bird. The claim was also made that this is the reason it has always been illegal to kill one!
I guess there is someway a difference between being the National Bird and a bird that is the National Symbol. I would think those would be synonymous.
