National Naval Air Museum visit

The USAF Museum I liked better than even Udvar-Hazy and the A&S museum on the Mall. Been quite a while since I was there, you still had to take a bus to Wright-Pat to see the SR-71 and XB-70 and Presidential airplanes.

I live near the corner pocket of the USAF Museum. It is a magical place that requires at least a full day to appreciate.

There are no longer bus shuttles to the remote exhibit hangars as the expansion of the main complex now houses the exhibits.

I was fortunate enough to also visit the U.S. AIR FORCE Museum in Dayton a few years ago. A few more photos, but from the Air Force museum this time…….for those still interested…..

The F4u Corsair was being redone at Cherry Point when I was there , AJ might remember it . It was parked in a hanger and we used to drool over it , one beautiful bird .

My favorite trip to go see my sister and her kids was at Cherry Point. My BIL is a retired Marine officer and I went for a couple weeks to see them while he was deployed in '07. They were living right on the river and their girls and I would walk along the river and fossil hunt. I remember seeing Harriers landing as I was heading through the base to their house.

NAS Pensacola museum is great from the pilots statues gathered in front, through the exhibits, and the docents driving tour of the restoration area.
Crazy shooter shut it down for a while, so nice to hear it is running again.
Florida crazy beach rentals reaction to covid priced me out and annoyed me so not going back unless things change.

I have been fortunate enough to visit the museum at NAS Pensacola many time while vacationing at Perdido Key, FL. Most memorable visits were with my Dad when we vacationed together with the family one year.

He was a WWII combat wounded vet from the Pacific Theater and in his senior years built and flew radio controlled airplanes. That week he and I went to the museum four different times. What fun!

He and I also stopped of a the USAF museum at Dayton on the way back from Camp Perry one year. I stopped there a few more times and took my daughter when she and I were visiting prospective colleges and universities for her to choose the beginning of her higher education.
