This is National Police Week.
You have probably seen very little about it in the media.
Say "thank you" to a Law enforcement officer. They have been under great pressure and ridicule lately. If you are by chance in the
Washington, D C area the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is a great visit. 701 new names were etched on the walls of the Memorial this week.

The mother of my children has her name on that wall.

You, and your family's service is appreciated, by our society.

The police department in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, both my hometown (I live a little further south now) and that of Rush Hudson Limbaugh III, where my father served as Chief back in the 90’s, has an authorized strength of 85 officers. They have 62. Nobody wants to do this work, and I do not recommend it as a career path to those who ask me. It was a good career for my father and for me, but that time has passed . . .

I'm inclined to agree. I strongly discouraged both of my sons from going into law enforcement, fortunately both are doing well in other careers now.

Even so, we need well raised, with a strong character, young men and women to fill the ranks. With the weak moral fiber seemingly demonstrated by our society, we don't need fewer LEO's, we're going to need more.

A big "Thank You" to those who risk their lives everyday to "server and protect". God Bless ya'll.

P.S. Whoever downgraded this thread with a 1 star rating should be ashamed.......I'm giving it a 5 star rating and I hope others will also.

Don
