I can't handle daylight savings... it messes up my circadian rhythm, and it takes me a looong time to re-adjust.

I think it relates to my teenage years when it cut into summer nighttime back seat adventures...

Just the other day, went down to the Apple Store and bought a new iPhone.
Was waited On by an attractive knowledgeable lady.
Was surprised to hear she is a Jicarillla Apache from Dulce, NM.
I know a number of Native Folks, but she’s the first Jicarilla Apache that I ever met.

Our springer spaniel is very unhappy with Daylight Savings. She has an internal clock that is set for 5 p.m. Eastern time, and she knows when the sun goes down it's 5 o'clock and dinnertime.

There I was, in Page, AZ.
And I didn’t know what time it was.
AZ don’t go on DST.
Page is a small ‘enclave’ in the Navajo Nation, Big Res.
The Navajo Nation does go on DST.
Nearby Utah also goes on DST.
So I know my cellphone is giving me accurate time, just sure which time.
When I ask the motel clerk, she laughs and points up at a clock on the wall.
She says folks ask me that all the time!

They tried that one year. I think it was during the Nixon Administration. It only lasted one year when parents raised a stink when they found out that during the winter their kids were going to school when it was pitch black out.

Snubby’s post reminds me of why one of the earliest Indian words for “white man” was “fugawi.”

.....and to this day, the Lost Tribe of the Fugawi can sometimes be heard, late at night, when there is no moon, calling out in unison to whoever might be close enough to hear their mournful cries of "We're the Fugawi............we're the Fugawi............we're the Fugawi....."

DST

Does any one here know the real reason for establishment of DST in the first place ? I've heard various theories over the years ( retail sales, farming, safety, less energy use, Gov't. control of the masses, etc.), but can't be convince any make sense. The "old Injun" makes the most sense-Gov't. BS

I like the fact that I can read on my deck at 10 PM in July and my grandkids can go to the schoolbus at 7:30 am in the winter and have it mostly light enough to see.
