Played this last year and had a lot of fun. BaldEagle1313 was last year's winner, for which he received cash and prizes totaling just about Zero dollars, but the title did help his love life and maybe his complexion. You'll just have to ask him.
Thought I would post this early and stir up a little excitement and a few more players.

This is not the official thread for Week 1.

Official Survival Pool for Week 1 will be posted early the week of August 26, 2012. First games of the season are on Thursday August 30, 2012. You will be asked to post your week 1 selections in that thread.

In the past we have had forum members miss the first week and then wanted to join the second week. Sorry, don't miss posting your pics the currrent week. If you miss or skip a week your out.

These are the rules for Survival Pool. If you have any recomendations for rule changes or rule additions please let me know.

I have the final say if new or changes to rules will apply.

Current Rules

1) Pick one college FBS team per week.
2) The team you pick MUST BE UNDEFEATED AND PLAYING THIS WEEK.
3) Once you pick a team you MAY NOT PICK THEM AGAIN.
4) If your pick loses you're out.
5) If you don't pick you're out.
6) If you wait too long, and SATURDAY games have kicked off you're OUT (All picks must be posted before 11:00 AM CT - see rule 7 for exceptions).
7) If you pick teams that play Tue, Wed., Thu., or Fri. those picks have to be made before that game kicks off.
8) Last player standing wins.
9) Ties (last standing players) will be broken by posting total points scored in the game in the final week with their pick.
10) Picks must be posted in that weeks thread.
11) You CAN NOT PM your picks.
12) You CAN NOT create a new thread to post your pick.
13) Managing your picks is part of the game. I will not tell you who you have picked.
14) With your pick post a prediction for the total number of points scored in that game. (We won't start this until we're down to the last 6 or 8 players. I will let you know when this rule kicks in.)
15) If all the undefeated teams lose in a given week or no survivors can advance to the next week rule 14 serves as the tie breaker (if no survivors can advance ties will be broken first among those with a winning team in the current week and then among those with a losing team if no one has a winning team).
16) Each succeeding week post your pick for that week as well as those of your previous picks.
17) As moderator of the pool I will settle all disputes.

Example for Rule #16:

Week 1: Penn State
Week 2: Oklahoma
Week 3: South Carolina
Week 4: Indiana

Week 8: Oklahoma State (74)

You must work for the IRS.

I must confess...I didn't originate this game. I played it on a local website and really had fun, so last year I brought it here. All the rules have practical application, and are in place to clear up areas of prior confusion. Unlike your unfair comparison, I will be happy to explain any that you don't understand.

Try it...you'll like it.

Sounds like great fun, but any game that has that many rules is way to complex for this old man. Have fun all.

I'm with old bear... but if Oklahoma should end up winning it all, I'll chip in $100 to feed the goriller!

Blessings,
Hog

You are pretty picky;).
Who's playing? Is this an Olympic sport?, I think the Summer games are over.? Are bribes allowed?. How about offering cars and girls?.:D

That's been tried. The NCAA frowns upon such things. There are several programs that have just come off probation (USC), are currently on probation (Ohio State), or are about to be on probation (Oregon?) for the bribes/cars/girls stuff. I won't even go into the Penn State thing. That just turns my stomach.

Yes, I know you were joking. :D
