OFFICIAL footage of the dramatic near miss at Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) on February 25, 2025.
A Southwest Airlines jet was forced to abort its landing on Runway 31C
after another aircraft crossed the runway, narrowly avoiding a collision.
Watch this intense moment unfold as skilled pilots react in real time.
Footage captured by StreamTime LIVE camera.

Video shows Airliner very near touch-down - before climbing out for go-around.
Look at 0:14 - 0:15 time

Last I heard on Chicago news last night was the small plane didn't have permission to cross the runway.

Not sure what penalties the pilots found in violation face, but apparently it isn't stiff enough because it seems to be happening way too frequently. Perhaps the airlines need to be fined/suspended from service also.

Just amazing video. There was another such incident yesterday at another airport, can't remember which.

While English is the official flight control language, not everyone understands it as well as a 'native soeaker.' Notice the international airlines at every major hub airport and consider how many pilots/co-pilots only speak English when dealing with ATC. Then there are private aircraft.

Cool shades, hell. I wonder if they had on their brown pants.

I'm sure they did at the end of that video.

There was a controller initiated go around by an American Airlines kite at Reagan yesterday. It was to maintain separation from a departing flight on the same runway. Perhaps the departing plane did not get lined up and rolling as quickly as the controller hoped. These things happen at busy airports with single runways.

DOT Secretary Duffy told CNN something to the effect that the pilot certificates of the Challenger 350 crew should pulled. FlexJet should already have fired them. What part of "hold short of 31 center" did they not understand. Now, I have operated in and out of Midway before and it is fairly complicated airport, but nothing a commercial or ATP rated pilot can't handle.

This stuff happens more than you know, folks. We are just hearing about it more. The stuff that happens at nontowered airports or small class charlie-towered airports like Huntsville, Birmingham, etc. across the country that you never hear about are just as stomach-turning.

While aviation is still very safe, I've been close enough to see the other pilot's headset a few times, and it will shake you up. Big sky theory... Head on a swivel.

The Southwest pilots did their job and were springloaded for this. Midway is complicated, but Flexjet should have asked for progressive taxi instructions if they didn't understand where they were on the field or where they were in relation to the 31 Center hold short line. They likely thought they were not at 31C yet.

During my training, my instructor asked. "What do pilots and controllers have in common? When you mess up, you can die; when controllers mess up, you still do." :)

That was about as close as you can get without having little bits of aluminum flying all over the place. Did the airliner's mains touch the runway? I couldn't tell, but it was a nicely done go-around, and the pilot may even be able to log a touch and go in his logbook.

My question is: Has this stuff been happening all along, but we have not been told, OR, are things getting worse lately?
