since Stevie Ray Vaughan was killed in a helicopter crash. I tend not to
favorite celebrities but I do have to say SRV was one who I certainly
enjoyed.

Listen closely at the beginning and you'll hear him dedicating the song to
those who are suffering. As he had been.

Enjoy!

Very sad to imagine loosing someone so in tune with his own world. His playing was beyond understanding.

He once said, "I look down some nights and I can't believe what I'm doing". He didn't think, he just felt it and played it.

I saw him at the New Orleans Jazz Festival just before he died. He had cleaned up and was trying to live the good life. It just got away from him.

I miss him very much.

RIP SRV,
thank you for the gifts,
Prescut

I remember his death and it was a terrible loss.
I worked on the Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy. We installed the steel and the arched wooden roof on the theater. Odd things happened there a few times. Two days after we completed the roof the truck crane boom collapsed. Woody's Crane Service. It fell on a job shack and destroyed it. No one was injured but everyone took notice. We used to ride up to the roof on the main line hook. Up and down several times a day. No one ever thought about a boom collapse. We couldn't do that today.
RIP Stevie Ray

I met SRV in Fairbanks Alaska, his band flew up to for the grand opening concert in their new concert hall. I told him he was a long way from home and he invited me to the concert. I declined because my family was on the airliner he flew in on, and I had to get them situated.
After he passed my mom god bless her heart said, "Son if I knew what your were talking about I would of gone and left you to deal with the kids!"
RIP fellow Texan.

I have watched his "Sound check" about a hundred times on youtube,,, amazing. Looks like he just got out of bed and he shreds that guitar like none other. Look it up.

Always a favorite of mine. What he could do with that old Stratocaster was beyond amazing.

Rock stars need to avoid small planes and helicopters.

It's not just rock stars who need to avoid those small planes and helicopters. Troy Gentry died a couple of years ago when the chopper he was a passenger in crashed during an aerial tour before a concert.

As for SRV, has anyone checked out his brother Jimmy?

Read an interview once where Jimmy said he could only play in the key of G. He had to use a capo too transpose to every other key.

SRV was one of the best, and died to soon. He, along with ZZ Top, really brought Southern blues rock into a new era, and is still played daily on the local classic rock station. Some of my favorite works by him are the jazzy instrumentals such as "Lenny" and "Rivera Paradise". His guitar work on David Bowie's "Let's Dance" is amazing as well.

His brother Jimmy is great too. Also, the young artist Quinn Sullivan has done a good job of keeping blues rock alive when most other young men are focusing on more commercial music. Buddy Guy seems to to have approved of them all.
