I need to get my hands on a good holster for my new 657. It is a snubby style "N" frame size handgun and could use a shoulder style holster for the woods.

Any suggestions???

Thanks folks.

Just how stubby (long) is the barrel? Do you have a preference for shoulder, IWB, OWB, crossdraw or some other type holster? And use, concealed carry, hunting range use?

hey there neighbor...i carry my 3" 657 in an ankle holster and it works great...i also have a galco pancake style for it that i purchased for it right here on the forum

You didn't mention how snubbed your pistol is, but you could try El Paso Saddelry, Galco, or Diamond D Custum Leather, to name a few.

I'm currently using 2 models of the Diamond make, and they are very nice.
Wasn't any waiting period either.

Good luck.

Quit carrying mine as they don't make em anymore and have a few other .41 mags for hunting and outdoor ativities. Great carry gun and love that snubby hand cannon.

If you need a GREAT holster carried mine in a Lobo pancake with snap from Lobo holsters. Great rig and bummed I sold it. Go to his website and check out his rigs. Best holsters for the dollar IMO and I only buy from him. You're getting a custom holster at or below the mass produced priced one's out there. He's also a forum member. He does make shoulder holsters but they aren't listed. Sure if you give Ray a call he can help you out with one.

Don't sell that 657! They are not only great revolvers in a great caliber and keep going up in price yearly. Plus they're a blast to shoot, especially at night:)!

Here's his website. This man will do you right!

kennyb, Is your right leg 5 inches thicker from packing that baby in an ankle holster? Think you'd need an ankle weight for your left leg to counter balance that weight:).

Not sure some may be mistaking this gun with something else. This is an "N" frame:

I am looking for a shoulder rig if possible. This would be a better carry holster in the woods.

I carry my 4 inch 629 in a Bianchi #5 BHL.
Can be carried strong side or cross draw (which is nice for sitting in a truck or on a 4 wheeler).

With forty years of carrying around handguns...my current sweetheart woods rig is the El Paso Saddlery 1942 shoulder rig. Very comfortable, the gun is out of the way, yet accesible.

Too many bad reviews of this company. Not what they once were. I will look elsewhere. Thanks anyway.

For what it's worth, I've ordered 4 holsters from El Paso over the last year, and every one has been just fine. Good service too.

Was this very recent? They had some issues with getting orders out and I mean bad issues. They had a great rep for years, but fell on hard times. I can only hope they are back on their feet and doing business as it used to be years ago.

You've posted this to the WWW. Now back it up Please.

I ordered three rigs from EPS this past year...all arrived within two months.

MT Helo a poster here did two rigs, his arrived within a reasonable amount of time.

Another friend ordered a 1942 and a Tom Threepersons FIVE weeks ago and it arrived this past week.

So whats the big issues with EPS?
