I have a 4506-1 I am replacing the barrel. The .346 hood size barrel is no longer made. Only the .486. So, I need the hood "fitted" Can you guys recommend a good gunsmith?

Thanks

uhh...you might try a different section than the Sigma and SD forum where you posted this

Recommendation might be nice. Where? There isn't a spot for 3rd generation s&w. Since this forum is small, I figured someone would see it as you did :)

I will try and offer a polite answer...this shouldn't be too hard to do, so most gunsmiths should be able to handle it. If you can't find one, you might try Clement's Custom. I have had work done in the past by them and they are very good. You might also give S&W customer service a call as I am sure they would be able to do it. Good luck!

Sometimes comments like that I just say "summer break from school is out".

Thanks for the lead. I will contact them. I did try s&w, they said they wouldn't do it. I found it interesting. Maybe I called the wrong number (or wrong building)? Do they have a gunsmith dept as I called sales and customer service?

It has been 30 years since I sent something to S&W, so I am sure things have changed. You might want to contact them and ask for the performance center, or their custom shop, or whatever they call it. Let us know what happens.

No, there's not a seperate 3rd Gen forum or sub-forum...however, this IS a really small and specific subforum for a gun totally unlike yours, and you might have better luck in the main S&W semi-auto forum which shouldn't be cluttered with plastic gun talk the way this one, and the M&P subforum are....they deal with the 1911 and guns of your variety there....

Need a Gunsmith

Tred7081: I got it, "No class", thats a good one. As to your question, Robar Company in Phoenix is world class, did the custom work on my Browning Hi-power as well as the very famous NP3 finish, also, there is Wayne Novak, you can find both by googleing them.
