Need a Shield and pocket pistol ?

I had the Ruger LCP for a pocket gun and the Shield for IWB. I found a great, comfortable holster in the N82. The Shield is always with me and the LCP just camped out in the safe. I gave it to my Dad when he started looking for a pocket gun.

I rarely pocket carry. I have not had good luck finding the right pants for me that hide the bulge of the j-frame or cm9 in my pocket since I don't go for the cargo type pants look.

If I need to go somewhere and I'm not already loaded up with one of the double stacks, that is when I use a sticky holster to bypass putting the hybrid iwb on. It is fast to put it on and works ok. I don't care for it if I knew ahead of time I'd have to wear it for more than say 6-8 hours since I prefer the stability you get with the double belt attachment of the hybrid.

With that option available to me it's pretty rare for me to pick a .380 for convenience sake. About the only time I could see me choosing the small .380 would be when I need the deepest of concealment and probably then it would be in something like the smart carry or belly holster.

Believe me, it's nice to have options when presented with out of the ordinary situations. If you want to get one, go for it. Hopefully you will be able to make pocket carry work for your needs.

The problem with spending more time on these forums is you ultimately begin to determine…. you need another gun :)

I have a Shield and now I'm wondering maybe a Ruger LCP 380 would be a nice addition for those times I just want to put it in my pocket for convenience, instead of pulling out the IWB and Shield.

So I'm wondering… do you own a pocket pistol and a Shield ? Do you believe you need both, or would the Shield suffice ?
I have that exact combo. The 380 gets carried more in summer.

It is nice to have options. I own both a BG380 and a Shield 9mm. I use the BG380 mainly during the summer and the Shield the rest of the year.

Visiting a gun forum is for several reasons:

1) Validate your purchase (did I choose the right gun)...
2) Share your experiences with others hoping that they agree with you...
3) Justify buying another gun...
4) Advice from current owners...pros and cons...
5) You cannot ever have enough guns...

I don't own a Shield but I do own and carry a 9c most of the time. I carry my BG 380 when not carrying the 9c. I have an IWB and a pocket holster for the 380. I carry the BG when concealment is an issue.

I really carry the XD line in 40 but since Springfield doesn't seem to move the XDs in 40, just purchased a Shield in 40. Feel like a trader but hopefully this will be a good experience. We shall see.

Screw the non american glock junk. I carry my 9 shield. If i dont have it i have my lcp380 in my pocket.

I saw mention of the Glock 42. Why in the world anyone wants a .380 just because it has the name Glock on the slide is beyond me when there are perfectly serviceable 9mm pocket pistols that will do a better job.

Since 1990, when Glock introduced the "Perfect 10" at the SHOT Show and everyone ran over to their booth to find a plastic 2 x 4 with a fat, flat slide on which you could land a plane, Glock has been doing its corporate best to prove beyond all doubt that they haven't got a clue what the American consumer really wants.

I have been told by Glock sales reps for decades, literally, that the sales force over here has been requesting a size manageable duty size .45. Something the thickness of the G36, but taller so as to hold 8 or 9 rounds and longer so as to have the same barrel length as a G17. Apparently, they aren't asking loudly enough or Austrian corporate people are hard of hearing as the SF ("Short Frame") version of the huge Glocks as applied to the G29, G30, G20 and G21 is so insignificant a reduction in "trigger pull length" that I know of no person who, when blindfolded, can tell the difference.

And now, we are to get a Glock .380 that is as reliable as a Zippo lighter? I am not sure where the Austrians are getting their Zippos, but I have never met one that will "fire every time." :)
