My buddy has 1 and loves it. I always wanted one and came close a couple of times. I believe Reese surplus or something like that has parts, stocks and what not for the bm59s. The standard bm59 used to be $900 plus and the alpines were way up there.
I've been doing some online research on this carbine. As for pics I'll get some tomorrow. This is an original PB marked Beratta, not one of the Golden State or Springfield rewelds. It's a para model with side folder stock and tri-comp. Comes with 3 mags and as for price? Well lets just say comparable to a 5 screw pre 29. But it's the first/only one I've ever seen and I know not many made it in country in this config before the curtain fell. I may be forced to sell some other goodies in order to get this however, that is the downside.

Found this pic online of what one looks like. Also you were not kidding about magazines being pricey, around $120 when found. The one I'm looking at is about mint, not beat up like this one, also has the bipod attached.
I have a BM62 that I got when they were being imported. The BM62 was a sporterized version of the BM 59. I think it is a wonderful rifle and recommend it highly. The magazines are expensive, but they are build like a tank and will last a lifetime.
If it is anything short of a stupid price, get it. My friend in Memphis will smell it out and have it as he has the coin and has been lusting for a BM-59 for some time. What are the mags if you have the rifle? They are out there. Good luck!!
