I bought one to shoot (s/n 401377) and need to get a new hammer. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks.

BTW....checked Numrich and they say there are two types? OK, how would I know which type to buy?

Also, I'd prefer to find one for less than $50 if possible...hate to build too much into this old gun.

Bob,

I've got one that came with some parts I got on Ebay a few years ago. I didn't need the hammer, and it's been in my parts box ever since. It's not got any finish, and it's got light pitting all over it, but it looks like it'll function fine mechanically. It's got the stirrup, but not the part that's referred to as the 'fly'. (looks kinda like the DA sear on a modern Smith?)
See David Chicoine's website for a diagram:

All the notches look good and feel sharp. It should be service-able as it is. The firing pin tip is fine too.

Anyway, if you want it, it's yours for $20 shipped.

Chris,
Thank you very much. I'm checking with the gunsmith this afternoon and will be back at you!! I really appreciate this!
