Need help choosing.

I would like help in choosing a ccw wheel gun, I like the "air" series that also shoot 357. Yes I know the recoil is brutal, how ever it is to serve me with one purpose. I really like the lady smith model but , call me silly I just cant carry a gun that says lady smith on it. Any help on a small revolver that will fit in a pocket .thank you. no autos this time .

My EDC is a nickle 442 and it is perfect for pocket carry. The airlight models with the super light frames are very expensive and can be a problem w/lead rounds. This is especially true of the model w/the titanium cylinder (bullet pulling under recoil).

I actually weighed my 442, a M&P 340 and the 340 PD loaded and encased in my Galco pocket holster. The difference in weight was not enough to justify keeping the M&P 340 so I sold it.

Shooting .357 out of any of these guns sacrifices control of any follow up shots.

Pardon for not recommending a S&W, but the new Ruger LCP in .357 is my choice.
Lighter than a Smith, polymer so it won't rust from being carried up close and personal, and really a pretty good trigger.

Actually it's the Ruger LCR in .357. For .357 carry, it's the one. Love S&Ws but the LCR has better sights and trigger than comparable Smiths.

Excuse me for noticing that the Ruger LCP (Light Compact Pistol) is .380 ACP. The LCR (Light Compact Revolver) in .357 Mag, is an excellent choice and uses S&W J frame speed loaders. At the range more than 50 rounds the recoil can start to be a little painful like any light weight weapon.

Firing more than 50 rounds at the range, I do like the weight of Model 19 Round Butt snub nose to handle the recoil of a magnum load, the extra round is nice too. Adjustable rear sight is a great thing too. If you can get on in good condition a Combat Magnum as my primary recommendation. Had to make my own IWB hybrid hip holster with horse hide (OLD FAITHFUL HOLSTERS) for a good comfortable carry. Couldn't get a good comfortable IWB that was reassembled.

I chose a 642 for my dedicated carry gun.

When I was checking out various models, salesmen kept handing me titanium pistols. My usual response was that I did not want one because I might have to shoot a second shot.

I feel the same way about a .357 snub.

Light carry weight + bigger bang for buck = Night Guard

You might have to search a bit since the NGs were recently discontinued.

Otherwise, for big bang pocket carry ---> ---> ---> 340 or 360.

An older model Colt Detective Special. It's six shots, has a big enough grip to control hot loads, and is better made than ANY snubby made today.

I got one recently.... You can hide a 642 ANYWHERE !!

I am using a charter arms pug...
Light weight..
shoots well at close range
cheap.... so I don't care if I don't have it for ever...

I like the 642's close cousin, the 638 Airweight.

When I found mine, I actually was going to get a 642, but a 638 cropped-up for sale as "used-but-unfired" at a significant discount from brand-new. That was almost five years ago.

This is sometimes my only carry gun, more often it serves as a BUG to something larger.
