All,
Found another gem at the LGS again (I think). 27-2 in like new condition. Has all the papers and the presentation case, no turn line, sharp forcing cone, excellent bluing.

S/N N478xxx

Can someone help with the date of manufacture? Is this worth $900?

Thanks

According to the 4th Edition SCSW, you are looking at a born on date of around 1977-1978. As to the value, $900 is a darned good deal for what you are describing. Jump on it before it disappears. That price least $300-500 or more low in my neck of the woods.

Thanks for the date info. I can't believe I forgot the barrel length - it's a 5". Is it worth the $900? I think they're asking $1100 and I plan to offer $900

I know we are all a bunch of enablers around here but if you're in the market for a 27, then you've found it! And, I'd be inclined to call the store and put a hold on it until you can get back in. I walked away from a similar deal on a 29-2 in nickel a few years ago. I went back a couple of days later to buy and ......well, you know the rest of the story.

late model -2.... 5" discontinued it 1980 along with the 3 1/2" .... both replaced with a -3 4" in 1980.......... many feel the 5" is the best balanced barrel length.......$900-1,100 sounds like a "Good" price from what I've read....... can't remember last time I saw one for sale locally.

Great! I look forward to seeing the pics of your new acquisition. My first pistol purchase was a nickel 5" 27-2 back in 1974 and I still have it too. It's been well used too and it still shoots great too.

Was finally able to pick it up at the LGS today. It's even better than I remembered. I don't think this has been fired much...

Wow, that is a score for sure! A 27-2 with 3 T's in excellent condition for $900! Damn, even the box is beautiful. Congrats man, you did very well.

You done good on that deal for $900. Those sell for hundreds more on GB and move too. Easily a $1200 GB deal. 5" barrel 27-2 guns are very desirable.

My guess is that it is worth $1,100 without the box & tools. With them, add at least another hundred, probably more.

As long as I am guessing, I'll guess that if you called them and asked them to hold it for you, then you had to pay their full price.

Wow...if you ...ever...run across another one like that, buy it on the spot, then show us. If that had been me I would have slept against the LGS's front door! Way to go!

I'm a regular at the store. There's a benefit to stopping in every week and sometimes bringing a box of donuts. They usually call me if something nice comes in. This one had been bought by the LGS the day before and hadn't been logged in yet, so I didn't get called - but I know where to look when I enter the gun room. If I see something I like they'll hold it for me no questions asked.

The owner accepted my offer. He said he just wanted me to get it out of there before he was tempted to keep it.

Good find. You could roll it over for a profit. Nah. Finding these in this condition is rare.
