I picked up a carry piece for my wife today, while she was taking her ccw class. It's a Model 36 serial no 6379xx. I own and have looked through the 3rd edition of Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, but there is an open window of J-frame serial numbers between 1962 and 1969 and this number happens to fall in that window. The grips are numbered to the frame and are non diamond so I'm leaning more to the latter end of that window.

If anyone has any other information to narrow it down, just for the sake of dating it that would be great. It went right from the store to the range and shot great. A little ugly from lack of regular maintenance, but I prefer that in a carry piece.

Thanks,
Josh

I'm a little confused!

In the title it's a model 36, in the actual post it's a model 35.
Just a typo I'm sure, but a little clarification would help.

With that serial number it would have to be a model 36. The SCS&W list is not too specific but it looks like 1967 or 1968.

Yeah, sorry that was a typo, it is a 36. I was figuring '67-'68, just didn't know if anyone had any more info. Not a big deal, just curiosity.

Thanks,
Josh
