Need help from the experts

Can you guys help me with a manufacture date and approximate value of my revolver? My friends at GeorgiaPacking.Org sent me over. It's a Model 629 .44Mag. Performance Center. Stainless Steel/Powerported/3 inch barrell/fixed notch rear with adjustable front. I bought it brand new about 12 years ago I think, if my memory serves me. I actually traded for it at my friends gunshop but he's no longer with us so I can't go back to him. Any helo would be appreciated.It's in new condition, never carried, only shot 5 or 6 times. Serial number is HMC0028. Model 629-3. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Do you have the original box with the product code on it?
That would help in finding the information.
Maybe I am missing something, but I do not see that serial number range.
I am sure that someone here can help you out.

Hi, you most likely have a 629-3 Carry Comp Stainless, made in 1992 for Lew Horton, product code 170012. Listed as "limited production" but no number given. It had an MSRP of $999.95, but current values on guns like this are hard to determine due to variable collector interest. Hope this is helpful.

Murphydog has nailed it. I have one, and it is the only fixed sight 3" with the power port made till recently by the PC and the new ones have "the lock".

From the second production run

The HMC prefix indicates that your gun is from the second production run, made in 1995, a small number (~50 or so) were made then when the PC "found" some additional frames hanging around. The first run was made in 1990 and the only difference was the front sight blade, the first run had a red/orange line painted on the ramp front sight.

Here's a poor photo of the first two production runs, both with the same s/n.

Both of the initial production runs were made for and distributed through Lew Horton.

Smith Nut...Awesome! That's my gun! Thank you so much. I've never been able to get that much info on it. I remember my friend (deceased now) told me there were fifty of that run. He had number 27 and I got number 28. I didn't know it was Lew Horton. Great info guys.
