Hey all my name's Steven I'm 21 years old and recently just got my first handgun. I inherited a S&W .32 long hand ejector w/ double action and 3 inch barrel and was hoping some of you Smith & Wesson experts could help Identify when this .32 S&W was manufactured. I think this gun was used as my grandfathers sidearm during WWII as he had mentioned using a .32 as his backup. Also the trigger guard is fairly bent and the plastic grip piece is slightly broken on the right making me think it had to be carried around quite a lot. The gun has a round grip dating it before the 50s at the very least and has the patent writing on top of the barrel. The serial number on bottom of the gun is 925xx. Any advice for an owner of this specific handgun that you guys can impart would also be appreciated. I live Oregon so I am not required to register this gun.

P.S. I am aware that I am only supposed to use .32 S&W Short/Long rounds for this gun but does anyone have any modern brand(s) that they recommend?

P.P.S. Is there any company that makes replacement grips for this gun? (preferable made of wood)

.32 H.E. No. 92500 was made sometime 1906-1909 probably late in that period, 1908 or 1909. Maybe somebody will be able to pin it down to the exact year.

Correct ammunition is .32 S&W Long, it will shoot .32 S&W (While it is a short cartridge, the word does not appear in the official name.)
32 S&W Long- MidwayUSA

I don't have any SNs listed which are very close to yours, but from those I do have, I'd say the previous 1908-09 estimate is correct. It does not make any difference as to whose .32 S&W Long ammunition you use - whatever you can find will be OK. Most of what I see on the shelves today is either Aguila (Mexican) or S&B (Czech). A year or so ago I saw some Federal at Academy. .32 S&W will work, but it tends to be more expensive.

Thanks man it's interesting to think this thing is 90 years older than myself. This gun is even older than my grandfather was.
