Hello everyone,
I'm new to the Smith & Wesson forum. Need some help identifying the year of my new to me revolver. It is a model 66-1 in stainless steel s/n 38Kxxxx. It is pinned and recessed with 4" barrel and has the target style walnut stocks and adjustable sights. I feel I should add my Grandfather was in law enforcement for over thirty years and I've always been a "Smith man" , having inherited his model 13-1 which was his duty carry gun after his passing. Thanks to him I've always had an affinity for these fine guns, but this is the first I've purchased myself. Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help!

Hi, welcome to the forum. My best guess according to my resources would indicate your 66-1 shipped somewhere in mid-to-late 1978. I have 3 66's, and love 'em. They're excellent shooters, and the stainless cleans up quite nicely. It's always nice to have a family heirloom passed down, especially if it's a Smith...
