Good morning everyone,

I've been lurking here for a while but finally picked up my M&P 9C yesterday from the px. I bought on Camp Pendleton California if that makes a difference.

I was disassembling it to clean it yesterday and these pieces can off, but I have no idea from where they are or what they do. Anyone mind helping me figure out what the heck they are?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365869228.507527.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1365869241.718108.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1365869257.171224.jpg

Thanks Everyone.

When exactly did they fall out? Did they fall from the frame after you removed the slide? How far did you disassemble the gun? I see nothing even comparable to those pieces on my 40c. But as stated above, those could be the Safety hole plugs, mine doesn't have them, so I couldn't tell you.

They fell out as I was putting the rolling pins back in. Strange I know.

They don't seem essential to function of the gun but I'm obviously still concerned.

Can you post a picture of the profile views of your gun? I would imagine there should be some visible openings on either side.

Is this what you're referring to? I'll see if they fit.

It seems as they will fit. However I am in no mood to wrestle with those pins again just to check.

I just wanted to make sure it would not effect safe operation of the weapon.

Thank you everyone so much.

Yeah, they're just space fillers. No worries, just install them the next time you decide to pound out the pin! :-)

What a pain they are! Even the trigger retaining pin. Going to the range today do lets hope everything is correctly in place! Haha

if I were you I would call S&W to be sure, I have seen utube videos with people having the safety removed and those holes open but in your case the plugs are for the non safety version so you want to be sure the plugs aren't needed for some sort of support such as the frame rail plug on some models. at the very least they help keep dirt out of the innerds of your gun. if you leave the frame rail plug out it can damage the frame so a phone call is cheap insurance or just tap out the pin and be done with it so its all back as it should be, whats 5 minutes out of your day to do it?

After putting the roll pins in? What?

Removal of roll pins is not part of the cleaning procedure for any M&P auto.

Sorry, but this is the kind of thing that happens when people who are not trained for armorer work on the specific gun involved try to take it down past normal field stripping for cleaning.

It's my weapon and I want to know and understand its functions. Are you suggesting that those parts not included in a field strip dont get dirty? That's naive at best.

To everyone who answered thank you very much. The girl just ate 100 rounds of reloads flawlessly. Thank you Frog Lube.
