Hello i am new to revolvers and this happens to be my first post so please bare with me. I just picked up what I think is a 5 screw k frame pre model 10 military and police 38spl but I'm not sure. Do I measure from the cylinder to end of barrel or does measurements start at end of frame to get barrel length???? S/n number is 512469 any information on date and value would be awsome thanks

Looks like a .38 M&P Model of 1905 - 4th change. Somewhere between 1915 and 1942. Nice stags.
I do know that s/n 522644 shipped in 9/1927 and s/n 445916 shipped in 4/1924 so yours is somewhere in between that.
Being it is a snubby and having the stag stocks I'd say yours is north of $400. But I am not a valuation expert by any means.
