I am hoping someone here will be able to help me find a product I don't seem to be able to find any more.

For years I packaged the ammo I loaded in folding paper boxes that were die cut from a single sheet of card board similar to the material still used for cake boxes and that sort of thing. I bought them from a guy in Dallas Texas who used to advertise in the back of American Rifleman.

I find these boxes the best for ammo. They are the old style in which bullets are loaded in alternating order up and down like some .22 ammo (if you can find any ;) still is today by many makers.) This makes for very dense and compact storage of ammo. For example, in the same cardboard carton I can package with eight boxes of 45 acp of the popular style box with plastic storage trays for 50 rounds of ammo, I can pack 12 boxes of 45 acp of this style of box. The boxes are not only compact, they are economical and save on use of materials.

Unfortunately I can't find them anywhere.

Here are some pix of the box I'm talking about.

After it is folded

And after it is closed

These were quite common at one time, I'm hoping they are still available.

I would very much appreciate any help in locating this product... either a dealer or the manufacturer would be great.

Thanks in advance

CHuck

Try Uline, they sell all kinds of mailing boxes, all kinds of sizes. You have to buy 100 or more, but there you go.

Thanks for the lead... but no luck with the product I'm looking for...

Thanks anyway ...

Go into the post office and grab a handful of the small flat rate boxes. They look about the same size and the price is right. :D

Thanks, but the USPS boxes are MUCH bigger this one holds 50 cartridges.

Take your sample to "Mailboxes Etc.", or any other shipping store and see what they can do for you. That is where I bought my boxes when I was selling cast bullets. Try Googling boxes and go from there and lastly Midway sells light cardboard boxes but they use styrofoam trays. Ivan

look harder ... while Uline might not have that exact product, within their line of something to offend everyone, something will work

Google "Paper Ammo Cartons". 1911forum.com and gunboards.com appear to have some older for sale ads. A guy on EBay wants a buck a throw for his!

Good luck and let us know how you fare!

Boxes are 4 7/8 x 2 3/8

Thanks

4 7/8 x 2 3/8 by WHAT, exactly?:D:D:D

It looks like 1 1/4" deep would be good for .45 and 9mm, but my .38 special an .357 magnum would need the next size above 1 1/2" deep.

I'm shopping because I may be able to use the same thing. Only problem is some boxes are only sold in quant. of 1000.

Another suggestion. Get card stock. Trace design. Cut out box.

I bought them in 100s, but I'd bet we could get enough interest to split a 1000
