I spoke to a guy this morning who had a chance this week with several other shooters to try out the New Version of the Lemon Squeezer Model 40, 42??) To a man, they complained that although the safety works. several of them were unable, not unwilling to compress the bar hard or deep enough to get the pistol to actually fire. These are long time shooters, not novices. Has anyone else had some experience with this new gun, not the original version, and had any problems? I really like the gun myself and would certainly buy one for myself, but will hesitate until I hear more. Thanks everyone....Zebulon

I have a new model 40 lemon squeezer and it is my favorite J frame. However,it requires a high hold with the stock grips to depress the grip safety. A tyler T grip makes this easier. I ordered a set of Spegal Boot Grips and problem solved. They provide a secure grip and naturally provide a grip that activates the grip safety. They are also very attractive and not cheap.

I had the same problem. I installed a Tyler T-grip, and cut 2 coils off the spring that controls the "safety" lever. Gun is just about perfect, now.

I have a T-grip on order for my new 40 Classic. The grip ertainly needs something to make (de)activating safety easier.

Does anybody have a picture of the 40 with sideplate removed? I was going to remove the sideplate to consider removing a little of the safety spring (as Tom M did) but the side plate didn't seem to budge, I was a little reluctant to beat on the frame too hard.

If I get the sideplate off, I'd like to see if I could do a small modification to be able to pin the safety "off" as I understand you are able to do with the original model.

Unfortunately the new Model 40 and 42 are not set up to pin the safety shut as were the originals. Fortunately, we have the 442 and 642, neither of which have the unfortunate feature. Unfortunately, you have to look around to find a 442/642 without the internal lock.

Maybe it's the way my hand fit's my new M40 but I thought it was too easy to activate. The pressure needed to depress it seems awfull light. I had thought the original "lemon squeezer" was intended to keep a small child from fireing the revolver. Not that I mind but I was a bit puzzeled. But at any rate, as long as it keeps the dreaded IL away it works for me!

Received my Tyler T grips. One is for the Mod 40 Classic and got another for a Mod 60. I'm a little disappointed that they don't fit either revolver exactly. The opening at the top isn't quite wide enough so they are a little "canted" to one side. Perhaps they could be filed or ground out to fit better.

Anyway both revolvers shoot better with the T-grips. I still have to be pretty careful with my high/tight grip on the 40 or the safety won't deactivate. I'll shoot it a few more times and see if things improve. If not, I'll have to decide if I want to keep it.
