I was in the market for a new full sized pistol in either 9mm or .40 cal (.40 preferrred) and was not even considering the M&P because I wanted an external hammer and the option of single action. However, I have run into what looks to me like a fantastic deal on one with less than a box of .40 cal down the pipe. I can't find the model number on the Smith site though. On the box it says it's a 309300. I can find the 209300 which sounds identical to the one I'm looking at but the model number is different. Anybody here that can identify the 309300 and maybe tell me the difference. The gun comes with everything same as new plus about a half a box of ammo. The missing rounds are all the gun has fired. It has 3 magazines but the info I've turned up says they came with 2 magazines. Could that be the difference in the numbering? By the way, I can pick it up for $350 cash.

Those sell for $398 brand new at Bud's and other retailers, and with the S&W rebate we were getting another $50 back. So $350 is reasonable, and for a civilian it is a steal.

When I checked Bud's the best price I found was $478 for the same model but with only 2 magazines. Is that price offered only to LEO's?

Okay never mind. I checked buds again under their Law enforcement section and found "em.

Buds Police Supply sells to civilians almost exclusively. Not sure why their normal price is a "steal." Policemen are civilians unless they're military police. They can pretend all they want. ;) They're still civilians.

S&W 309700 (.40S&W with night sights) is a $455 at Buds Police Supply; 309700 is out of stock today.

That's the price for Military, Military Police, and Civilian Police and Fire personnel. Your Military ID or Civilian Public Safety ID will setup an account. Active or retired.

Buds and Buds Police Supply have been good to me.

Not to hijack a thread, but, I own a M&P 40 SKU 309300, it is the best shooter I have. More of a favorite over all of my 3rd generations. What separates the LEO series from the civilian series. I have questioned S&W but received the typical answer that it is the LEO option. What is the difference?
