Need help to ID this bullet!

Hi,
I was trolling Craigslist for reloading componets and came acrros a fellow selling Speer HBWC. Anyway, while i was at his place buying the HBWC he offered to sell me a coffee can full of these bullets. He only told me that they were hard cast and worked well for plinkers.

SO... I need help to ID these bullets. Also, I would like to know if there are any any special procedures in loading them if they turn out to be some wierd type of bullet coating. (lube, crimp, etc)

They are 158 gn

Cant help with the ID but make sure they are lubed before shooting them, looks like they may have a soft lube on them now.

they look like a cast lyman bullet i think 358311 is the number,check the diameter of the bullets, that was one of the first mold i bought 40 years ago.

not Lyman or RCBS, the nose is too short. The longer shank & short nose suggest LEE to me.

Aren't those moly coated bullets?

Could that be Lee tumble lube that gives the color? If that os a lube then they'll be fine for low velocity loads, if not then they need to be lubed before use.

It reminds me of the old lyman 358212, a 146g bullet.

Thanks for the replies....

These bullets are totaly dry and do not leave any residue on your hands after messing with them.

They do have the dark moly coloring on them, leading me to think they are moly coated.

They do look like these:
38 Cal 158 gr RN Moly Coated Pistol Bullet

Is there any way to test if they are Moly coated?
Will moly damage my pistol if not used properly?

Uhg... lesson learned...I should'nt buy reloading componets in a unmarked coffee can.

If they weigh 158gr, are already lubed and are the correct diameter does it really matter what mold they were made from? Just load them up in .38 special brass and have a good day at the range. They will work very well with a charge of 4.0gr W231 and crimped in the provided crimp groove.
