Need Help W/ Specific Conceal Carry Application

Dude this is gold. Thank you so much for all of that information. this is EXACTLY why I made an account here. Thank you.

Not a problem. Glad that my experiences with the same firearm could be of some help to you.

Best of luck in not filling up that holster box / drawer.

"I don't plan to have to draw it in my car. "

Uh... I'm afraid if you ever need it you won't get to choose when or where.

A lot of good info here... but I'll throw down. I make holsters for a living (I also drive a Miata once in a while) and will categorically tell you that you will need a belt.

A belt is as important as the holster. Both for comfort and retaining concealment.

Driving a Miata and carrying a gun are both choices where you have sacrificed some comfort and/or convenience... now they come together.

Maybe something clip on may work better so you can take it off when driving a distance... and keep it handy.

I can't really suggest better than some of the previous. Just beware Alien Gear wait times.

Needing a weapon will not come on your terms. If on your terms, it is an offensive, not defensive situation.

It is hard enough to present a weapon, with a seatbelt, in a large vehicle. A Miata! Gonna' be tough.

As to holsters, good luck, I have a hundred, at least. No belt? No way! Even if it stays put drawing is going to be iffy.

The belt is the anchor. You can use a less than perfect holster if the belt is adequate.

Google, " The Belt Man". Great belt, great people.

So, looks like Chris is going to get used to belts. Thank you!

Geroo here
For an easy on/off , belt/beltless holster use a paddle.
Blade tec has some.
The paddle goes over the pants with no belt and
between the pants and belt with one.
I might also suggest going a different route.
Do you were a light vest?
A vest [ there are many] with a pistol pocket might be an option.

Will look into the bests, haven't explored this yet. Thank you!

I've been using the Crossbreed for a little over a year (have two - G26 and M&P), and has become my #1 concealment rig. Very comfortable! I am also a Milt Sparks fan, IWB as well as OWB, and am also using a Sparks belt. Very High quality, and most comfortable for all-day carry of an M&P 45 FS IWB. You can expect quality gun leather to last for 10-plus years, so do the math. As Arik said, you really have to use a belt. The Supertuck won't work well without. I have also used an Alessi Talon IWB, as the hard Nylon clip was effective and didn't stand out. It will work without a belt, but won't be the most stable as the day gets long and the material gets stretched.

First, let me congratulate you on your choice of firearm. I've owned a 9c no safety for about 2 yrs. & have grown to love it. Well over 1000 rounds with 2 misfires and I think that was due to some bad cleaning advice.
It's a cut down version of the full size 9mm, so no worries about cracks in the frame like I've been hearing about the shields. It will also accept the full size 17 rd. clip.
As far as a holster, I can say DON'T get the Remora. It's IWB, and has a rubberized finish which is supposed to stick to your clothes, but doesn't work. Comes out with the gun. It's OK for in the pocket, but 9c is a little big for the pocket.
I'm looking into these belly band holsters.

I am left handed and about the same height, weight and build. Only difference is I'm 49. I have tried several holsters. I use a IWB Comptac Infidel. It has a single but stout clip that allows for a quick easy off and on. I have used the double clip holsters but it is a pain to get those clips set around the belt. What ever you choose get a holster that is form fitted so it won't collapse. I definitely recommend a good holster belt. You don't want it moving around. I started with the 9C, but now I carry the 45C in the same holster. I can conceal it well under a T Shirt during the summer.

Several someones have convinced you that you need a belt. Very good. The box of holsters, also very good.

Now about those t-shirts......forget tight ones that show off your build-unless you wear them under an open shirt with or without a collar. You're going to want roomy. Shirts with patterns and dark colors are slightly better at concealing minor strange shapes around your waist.

Most of us who carry on a daily basis are used to making sure we're carrying while doing test rides in cars we might want to buy. My wife's Celica becomes a torture device for me after 20 minutes. But it's her car, not mine. In the future make test drives last awhile.

When you start to carry, you'll expect everyone to stare at you. They won't. DO NOT pat your piece to make sure it's still there. If you find you have to keep hiking your pants up, you need a better belt-the width of which should match the belt loops of your holster.
