Need help with Model 28 value.

You did very well!!!! That's a fine model 28 in beautiful condition. The original grips are VERY nice. Hope you got to keep the very nice Pachmayrs also. I second the BK Grip Adapter. I have several and the fit is great plus they have 4 copper tabs instead of the Tyler 2 tabs to hold in place. I hope to add a 6 inch to my collection at some point. Here is my 4 screw with Ahrends.

Yes, I got the Pachmayrs too.

I've done a google image search for the BK adapter on a 28-2, just not sure if the images shown are wearing black or irregular black.

Anyway, I'm going to order the Black BK adapter tonight.

I think the irregular black may have minor imperfections is all. Someone will correct me if I am mistaken.

is what I need for the more matte finish on the 28-2?

Does anyone have pics of BK grips on a 28-2 or any N frame with magnas? or could possibly point me towards a pic thread of BK grips if one exists?

BK on my shooter Model 58 -





Having two sets of tabs means you don't need to sock down the grip screw tight as heck to avoid any wiggle. I found that slipping the adapter on first, but not pushed up tight against the frame, the putting on the grips and then snugging up works best.

You'd like the bronze Tyler T, but you have to be patient. Mine took 15-16 months. Here it is on my 2" 15-3, which I also had black nitrided.

I ordered the black BK last night, and it's already shipped.


I'm thinking I may go ahead and order a bronze Tyler, too.

About 10 years ago I was looking for a good shooter grade 4". After much looking I picked one up off GB out of a pawn shop in Florida. It was filthy with a slightly tweaked corner on one of the rear sight blade ears. After a good cleaning and a new blade it turned out to be almost perfect with no turn ring. Out of all my bullet lanchers it is my pride and joy. She also came with the nicest set of smooth rosewood targets I've ever had the pleasure of caressing. Alot of people diss the 28 in favor of the 27 but I'll take a working man's gun over a shiney show piece any day of the week.

He can't be too bright if he traded off his father's gun. Honor his father by shooting and enjoying the gun. Someday he may realize that he was an idiot and wish he had it back.

With only 20 rounds between him and his Dad....... appears very little bonding took place!

Gun probably smells of old socks from 40+ years in a sock drawer!

I need some help with the value of a Highway Patrolman.


This morning I traded into a Henry Big Boy in 357. Now, I need a 357 revolver to go with it.

Just a few days ago I purchased a 1911 that I have about $850 in. I don't need the 1911 so, I put it up for trade and was offered a Model 28 Highway Patrolman 4".

I have no clue what the value is on these. I have a model 29 and like it. I was leaning towards picking up an L frame, 586/686, but wanted to see the value of the Model 28.

I only have 2 (poor quality) pics of it. The M28 does not come with the box, papers etc.. but the guy said he has found the original grips for it. I've asked for pics of the grips but am waiting to get them.

Does anybody have a ballpark idea of value?

Nice piece! $700.00? There is one on armlist for $800.00, bin there a couple months.

FYI, there's a pristine 6" at a LGS for $695. If I already didn't have a couple already, I'd could probably go home with it for $650. If it were a 4" you'd already have pictures
