I am seeking help in locating a recoil spring assy for a S&W M&P9
EZ Shield TS Mass. compliant.
At 81 the recoil is too sharp for me and looking for a reduction assy. After NUMEROUS emails and calls to S&W service center I am told there are none and they will not give me the specs / spring weight/ Is there a reliable source or gunsmith who can make these adjustments? Help will be greatly appreciated.

IMHO your only real option is to swap for a lesser powered cartridge, such as same basic gun in .380, or get a heavier gun. It is an inevitable rule of physics that light guns and larger cartridges recoil more.
There is no "adjustment" that will reduce recoil; the EZ Shield already "spreads" the recoil with its recoil spring. A heavier spring will induce failures, and a lighter spring will make the recoil sharper and batter the gun. The semi auto pistol is a machine, and the recoil spring must match the cartridge power for the gun to work properly.
I have shot competition and taught pistol classes for decades, and helped people with this issue many times, most often with older ladies who come to class with the "cute little gun" that they cannot learn to shoot. One with severe arthritis wound up with a .22, but did learn to shoot finally. I always recommended taking the NRA basic pistol class first and shooting a variety of guns to make a realistic choice.
I am 77 myself, and have to admit I now much prefer shooting my M&P Pro 5" 9mm to shooting a .40 Shield. Time and many thousands of rounds have taken their toll and reduced my tolerance for recoil. :(
