Need Help with Zero-ing Iron Sights and Factory Red Dot

I removed the factory red dot from my 15-22 to put on another gun, then added after-market iron sights to the 15-22. I then put the red dot back on. Everything looked aligned on the rail, but apparently not. I'm so far off target at 25 yards that I'm not even hitting paper (CCI Mini-Mags, which were otherwise flawless).

I plan to go to the range tomorrow to try at 7, then 15, then 25 yards for zero-ing.

I'm wondering whether I mounted the red dot and iron sights off-set somehow?

Is there a proper way to mount the iron sights and red dot so that I'm at least in the ballpark of hitting paper?

Get as near the target in order to get on paper.

Acquire target and pull trigger. Don't move your hold, body, etc.

While holding weapon at same point of aim, now adjust red dot (or have a second person do it) so that it is now aligned with the point of impact.

You should be gtg now so that you are hitting the spot you aim at given the same distance, etc.

Typically this method takes no more than 2 rounds to accomplish.

Might be helpful to use a bench rest until you get them adjusted.

Buy a cheap lazee bore sight picked one up on eBay for less than 15 bucks
Set at my dining room table with about 50ft to the front wall
Set the lazer up in the barrell then moved my front mounted lazer so both stacked on each other then moved my flip ups to align with lazers
Worked great

You need a fixture to hold the pistol for sight alignment (not a shooting rest). This device has a clamp and fine adjustments.

Fire at least three rounds at the target. Mark the center of the group.

Clamp the pistol in the fixture. Adjust the position to align the red dot sight on the point of aim (e.g, center).

With the pistol secured, adjust the red dot so that it is centered on the group.

Fire another 3 rounds to confirm the correct point of impact.
