Hey all-

I shoot USPSA and IDPA with my PC 945 and PC 4006. I am currently running an Uncle Mikes nylon holster as it is very kind to the finish on my well used, but unblemished PC guns. I would like to upgrade to a faster drawing holster, but dont want to polish contact points into my guns by running a kydex holster. Any suggestions? I bought a Safariland via internet that has a suede lining, but there is a kydex part that presses against the frame that I am sure will scratch the finish.

Am I doomed to grind scratches my guns, or is there something out there that will not mar a blasted SS finish?

I had the same problem when I wanted to use my PC952 in USPSA. I posted the holster question on other forums in competition shooting sections, and the only holster suggested/available was the Safariland suede lined. I never bothered and scratched the idea of using the PC gun for competition.

Well, did you buy it to SHOOT or just look pretty?

HINT: "PC" stands for Performance Center. You knew that, of course. So why not use the gun the way it was INTENDED to be used?

My SVI's cost well more than double what my 625 PC did. They and the 625 get used as they were intended to be: In competition. In the rain, snow, dust, whatever. Exposed in race holsters for the most part; Kydex for the single-stack.

Gives them an "experienced" look, if you will.

I used to be concerned about keeping my guns "pretty". Then I got a ding on one, and the world didn't end. Now I worry more about how they shoot than how they look. I believe someone here has referred to them as having "character"...

Thanks for the input. I do shoot my guns, I have NO safe queens. Still, that should not mean that I have to scratch the hell out of them. I guess I will keep using the nylon holster until I can find something that suits my purpose. Some day I may drop the gun during a competition, then a few Kydex scratches will seem like nothing. There is probably a holster out there exactly like I am looking for, its just not on the shelf of the local gun shop in my gun friendly state...

For USPSA I use Pardini speed holster which holds the gun by the trigger guard - much the same principle as the CR Speed line of holsters. I can use my holster with either my 945 or 952. The CR Speed type holsters are not legal for IDPA.

$51.50
This is what I use...........

My 4006 rides in a Kramer MSP and I use it in both IDPA and USPSA. Great retention and is very smooth to draw from as well as being the most comfortable paddle holster I have EVER used! (Mine is horsehide) Not a cheap holster by any means....you DO get what you pay for however. Another great choice is a Milt Sparks.

Would your Kramer MSP accomodate a 5" slide? I guess I will look that one up on the web.

Thanks

+1 on the Safariland 568.
I shoot my guns, but I would like some of them to stay purty if possible.
I need to get some longer screws for it to fit a couple more pistols.

People shooting USPSA with $2500-$3000 pistols usually are more concerned with winning, rather than getting a little holster wear, or a few scratches on their pistol. Such wear and the occasional scratch is why we have stainless steel pistols. Race guns need to be raced.
