Need info on S&W Model 610 please

You can get 10mm mag brass from starline. I would need use the clips for 40 sw and 10mm. I never shoot those calibers in this gun, since I reload the coat to loading the 10mm mag is only a couple of cents more than regular 10mm if you don't count the cost of brass, which is negligible over 5-10 loadings.

Have model 610-2 with 6" barrel and un-fluted cylinder. Although I also have SW revolver models: 625(45acp), 686(38spc;/357) as well as other pistols as well, the 610 is my hands down favorite. Love the moonclips and both the power of the 10MM and the 40SW. Mine is a tack-driver.
Now want to add the SW 310 Nightguard to my armory

I would love to come across a 3" 610-2 Lew Horton to go with my 610 5" and the 610-3 6.5", but I just can't see the price they bring.

I`m really fond of the 10mm cartridge. And the model 610 is a great gun to handle some of my warmer handloads in that caliber.

Hi
I am thinking of buying a S&W Model 610 Can anyone out there tell me about these guns. Are they good or not. Any and all info good or bad with be much appreciated.

Thanks Graydog

Hi Graydog,
I've been looking for a used 610 (has to be pre-lock for me) for some time now, because I'm pretty hooked on the notion of moonclip revolvers. (I own "a few" 625's and a couple of 22-4's).

The "problem" I have is coughing up the prices that people are asking for 610's today. While I'd like to have a revolver that can shoot .40 S&W, to compliment my .40 S&W semi-auto's, I won't pay anywhere near $1000 for one.

I've rationalized that I'll wait for a lower priced 610 to come along, or I'll do without. The 610 is a six-shot, moonclip, N-frame. So is a mod 625 and mod 22! There isn't enough "benefit" to the 610 (for me) to spend the difference between what 625's are selling for.

I'm not telling you all this to talk you out of buying one for yourself. Just want to offer up a perspective for you to consider in your thoughts.

Lou
