I got my wife a j frame but I would like some more info on the gun. Its got a full 3 in barrel, 5- shot 38 special, adj. sites, Uncle Mikes grips, round butt and chrome. Inside tang serial #BRS6665 MOD.60-4. I paid $230.00 for it at Scheels a year ago. Any info would be great.

What did you want to know? The M60 is made of stainless steel.

And it sounds like Scheels has great deals, you could say steals.

You have a fairly uncommon model 60 variant, probably made in late 1994, and you got it at about half of its current value. It is fine for +P ammo if it matters.

After this and your Combat Masterpiece post, I'm sure there will be several Forum members driving to Scheel's looking for bargain S & Ws . Enjoy!

Thanks guys, That is what I wondering, what was the DOB. You say it is an uncommon variant ? Why is that ? Is there any up grades that I should look into ? And yes - my wife does enjoy her model 60.

The vast majority of older .38 model 60s are 2", fixed sight. A few thousand (?) fixed sight 3", then the rare 2" target sighted version. There are a few thousand 60-4s that seem to be very popular at present, in terms of selling prices.
