65-6
"Change to frame design-eliminated cylinder stop stud - /change to MIM hammer with floating firing pin / changed internal lockworks."

1997-2002

Couldn't find a CCU prefix.

Offhand I cannot help you, but go to the front page of the 1980 to Present forum that you are currently in and at the middle of the page on the right click on the Search this Forum button and enter 65-6. I found a bunch of info.

Hope this helps,

terry

Mine is a Model 65-3 with AUH prefix (1986). Pretty standard issue with heavy barrel and I've read that the Model 65 was standard FBI issue for 1986-1987 before they switched to bottom feeders.

The Model 65 was discontinued in 2005.

Does yours have an Internal Lock (aka Hillary Hole) which means post 2000 manufacture?

They are nice guns but I tend to favor my Model 66 (adjustable sights) over the fixed sight Model 65

The 65-6 was the last pre lock version of the Model 65, but it did have MIM parts and a frame mounted firing pin. Good guns. I missed out on a new in box 3” 65-6 last year, so I’ll have to get by with my 65-3’s and -5’s.

One other bit of history. The FBI never issued the Model 65, they issued the 3” Model 13. The 3” Model 65 was the last issue revolver for DEA.

Interesting info about not FBI, but DEA
