OK just some opinions needed.......

My 15-7 is one of the Corrections trade ins, I took off the beat up Uncle Mike's that were just so wrong on this gun, and put a set of later production factory magnas on the gun. I think the "look" is good with the woods, it has that "standard service gun" look but it's a later 15 with the factory drilled and tapped topstrap and later style rear sight. I'm guessing 1990's production for this 15. I took the Pachmayr Compacs off my 64-8 and put them on the 15.......the gun feels and handles great, but is it me or is it just not "right"?

The worn factory Magnas are just so wrong on a 64-8 but I put them on just to see how they looked......just wrong.

I put a set of Hogue rubber grips on the 15 and threw up in my mouth a little, they just look hideous on the gun. I like my Smiths to look good, as well as handle and shoot well, I can't stand hideous grips. I've had the Hogues on the 64-8 and they look better on that, feel OK, but I'm not partial to FG grips if I have a choice. I'm 6'4" but have smaller hands, larger grips don't suit me well since anything below my pinky is just kind of hanging out below my hand. The S&W RB is ideal for me.

The 64-8 also has Uncle Mike's that it came with, but I must be in the minority, I think they feel like a rubber brick in my hand and the grooves are all wrong for me. If I were "issued" these guns or some such I wouldn't obviously care but they're mine now and I'm looking for good grips for them. The K and L frame Round Butt is my favorite grip configuration and I hate to "waste" it with "Round to Square" conversion grips. The Compac is a good compromise. The wood looks the best but sacrifices handling. I also hate to cover up that pretty serrated back and front strap on the 15, but a past user scratched the front strap up near the strain screw with a screwdriver anyway.

I like the Pachmayr Compacs a lot, a whole lot. The 64-8 is a sweet handling gun with these, and they look good on it. But now that I put them on the 15, they also feel great on this gun. I had thought about just buying another set of Compacs and keeping them on both, but trying to avoid dropping $25 on grips for shooter grade guns.....

Just looking for opinions, these are "fun guns" although I may CC the 15 tomorrow as my "to and from work" gun to see if the grips grow on me.

Both these guns need the hoods popped for a cleaning, haven't done that since I got them, so I have these dug out of the safe and started playing with the grips......sorry for the long post, just killing some time late at night:)

I have a no dash model 64 that was modded at the sheriffs office to have a bull barrel to match the later production 64s. It came with the pachmyr uglies but I got both a hogue monogrip and a wood grip for it. Love them both and regularly switch between the two, depending on what I'm using the gun for at the time.

This is purely personal but I would put PC magna stocks on the 64 and small oval "footballs" targets on the 15. I know later targets would more correct for the late 15 but I find the older targets are a bit more "trim" than the newer ones.

I personally like Herrett Shooting Star grips. The size is just right for me. I have 3 sets of them. Bought another set at gun show, and it turned out that were Colt MKIII Grips. (OH well) Bob
