received word this morning from his daughter that Tom is not expected to live but a few days and is in a hospital in Minneapolis. Tom was crewing on a Medi-vac when it was shot down & he was captured. He was fortunate to not be killed while he was there & was one of our guys that NVN released, as many of our people were murdered & more than a few were not released by the North.
After he was returned to the USA, Tom wed his sweetheart & they established a successful business. He tried out twice for the Denver Broncos as a walk on, but as he put it, he was past his prime....his years as a POW had taken their toll. He & his lady raised a good family & his joy was watching his grandchildren establish their own families & have kids.
Tom, in his 70's, despite his age & having one foot amputated, still rode his beloved Harley until a young single mother hit it while he was at a gas station... she had no insurance & was terribly upset by the wreck... Tom had insurance & got his bike fixed, then sold it & gave the money to the young girl so she could get her car fixed.
Tom was a great poker player... Omaha Hi-Low & some Texas Hold 'em... but was accused of playing the slots every now & then too... He retained a great joy of living throughout his life.
Please pray for a gentle passing & for his family to find the strength they'll need in the Love of our Almighty in the days to come. Lord, a good man is coming home to You.
