Ruger Blackhawk Old Model Purchase

In an earlier post I was asking for info on an Old Model 3 screw Blackhawk that I had looked at .
I went ahead and made the purchase . Its an Old Model 3 screw Blackhawk in .357 Magnum and a 6.5 inch barrel and it was made in 1968 . The gun is in excellent condition with only a barely visible turn line on the cylinder . Other than that it shows no real signs of use.

It has not had the transfer bar conversion and you are rewarded with 4 distinct clicks as you thumb back the hammer.
The original grips have been replaced with some pretty nice Herretts and there was no box or paperwork included.

It was listed at $599 at Cabelas here in Pennsylvania . I offered $549 and they accepted . I also had a $100 gift card and they offered another $20 off the purchase if I opened a credit card account .

I have had my eyes open for one of these for a few years and figured this was probably as good a deal as I was likely to get.

I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet but I'm not expecting any surprises and I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Thanks to all who took the time to offer up their advice and experience with this model in my previous post .
Nice! I have the brother (1969 S/N: 30-4xxxx). Same chamber, but includes the 9MM separate cylinder; same 6.5” barrel, and no trigger action impact (transfer bar) 😎👌🏼

My Glocks and my Sig P210 will be fed 9mm rounds . My Ruger Blackhawk will receive a steady diet of .357 magnum . Perhaps in a pinch some .38 Special ...but 9MM ?? . It just seems unnatural !
…Until you slip that nifty 9MM cylinder in and knock back a few boxes 9MM ammo 😉. But you raise a good point…kind of like shooting spitballs out of a howitzer 😎

I just love the clickity-clack of the old action.

I cannot bring myself to shoot 9mm (.355) in a gun that is sized for .357. I could load some .357 bullets in 9mm cases, but why.
