I just recently purchased a Nikon Prostaff EFR 3x9x40 scope and 1" high scope rings and mounted it but was too low that it did not clear the MBUS. I want to be able to switch between the scope and a red dot. Any suggestions on a QR mount with or without (since I have the rings to mount it) rings for this scope that will clear the MBUS (rear)? Tube diameter by the way is 1". Tnx

The NcSTAR QR ($26) should work. It is a native 30mm with split ring inserts for 1". I have 3 of them and they work well for me on .22 rifles.
If you don't really need QR but want a good cheap 2" cantilever forward mount look at the Aim Sport one ($35). It is sort of a poor man's Burris PEPR.

I like the Burris PEPR.

Like everyone says, with optics, shopping for cheap (which I see you did not) usually means buying a paperwieght. I feel the same about mounts. The PEPR is available in 1". The QD system works well and it always returns to a perfect zero.

I like to switch between my dot and scope too. I use the PEPR for my scope and the American Defense T1 mount for my dot. Both return to zero, and the QD systems are rock solid.

Tnx for the replies photoracer, gopher slayer.........
@Gopher......Would you know if the Burris PEPR will clear the Magpul MBUS when folded? Tnx

I think you'll be ok, but...

It depends on the size of the scopes ocular bell and what generation your MBUS are. The Gen1's aren't as low pro as the Gen2's. The Gen1's are a thing of the past, but I'm pretty sure S&W has a stockpile of them and still put them on the 15-22. All the new 15-22's I see still have them.

Here's a pic for reference. There's plenty of room and that's why I think you'll be fine.

I use Bobro mounts on my AR's. Little spendy but are nice quality.

The Burris AR PEPR is the way to go. I use it on all my AR's.. I sold the factory MOE sights to pay for it.. Ron

Correction... I don't have the QD models, just the knobs..

I have found the Aim Sport cantilever to be almost identical to the knobed version of the Burris PEPR for less than 1/2 the price. So far they hold zero when swapped back on but admittedly I don't shoot them out as far as 250 yards as yet.

I have both the Burris PEPR QD and the NcStar MARCQ QD. Sure, the Burris is better, and I LOVE the look of it, but the NcStar holds a good zero too, and is 1/4 the price. I'm now using the NcStar on my red dot sight, not using the rear ring, so it's very versatile too.

Burris pepr is available in quick release now. Just ordered one. Less than 1/2 price of a larue, but it's made in China if that's important to you.

That is what I said. If you need the QR and the NcStar is too light then by all means get the PEPR QR version. but if you are getting the regular version then the Aim Sport Cantilever is just as well built and may even be made in the same factory, who knows.
