My beloved 19" crt on my desktop machine is dying and I need a replacement. I got this one for free off craigslist and it has done daily duty for the last 5 years.

I was wondering how much the 19-20ish LCD monitors cost these days and where might be a good place to find a value oriented monitor?

I don't remember what video card I have but it is about 3 years old. I watch the occasional utube video, surf the net, and do some word processing and spreadsheet work on this machine.

What is the sweet spot on monitors these days with regard to size/price?

Thanks

I got the Samsung LCD 23" from BestBuy @ Christmas for $219. The LED was $100 more. Either will amaze with the resolution and "room." Joe

Acer makes a very nice 19" monitor. Staples sells them in the $100.00 range when on sale.

Be safe.

The Acer models are good - as stated above, you can get the 19 inch for around 100.00.
I bought the 23 inch model for 149.00. I also have a Samsung that is also very good.
Just look around, they are out there.

Wish you were around here. I would give you a nice Dell crt. I moved my old computer to my reloading room and had no room for the crt. I replaced it with a new Dell 19.5" flat panel on sale at Best Buy for $99.95.

I have been looking also. I have a nice 19" square Envision but want a wide screen. There is a big price jump from 19" to the 22 or 23. It seems like prices go down every week I look.

I think these days, the brand doesn't matter much , they are all pretty good.

We install 17" monitors as standard customer displays in grocery stores. In that environment, and being on 7x24, Acer seems to last about a year. Anything like the Acer that has an internal PS seems to suffer from longevity problems. Most people are willing to put up with a years service time since most monitors have a longer warranty than a year and your only paying $120 for it. I've got a used Dell 17" that's hung in there for years with one external PS replacement. I prefer the close to square as possible format for computer monitors. I'm looking for a monitor in 19" with that format and integrated speakers. Tough to find.
