Good day everyone. I really need to find a quality smith. My best friend gave me, and forgive me for not knowing exactly but I always have got them wrong, either a 4" model 27 or 28. I do not know where he got the gun from, but he had it for several years. It was in deplorable shape when he got it. It has been cerakoted, and he never fired it after he got it back. It has a super hard trigger when it works. It seems as long as the gun is held level, the trigger will operate. If the gun is raised, the trigger will not function. I am not a gunsmith by any means on revolvers, and do not know what is causing it, nor do I want to take it apart and start monkeying with it. I do not know if the cerakote has something to do with the trigger being so heavy either. I have a revolver course coming up, and need a wheel gun. My Bud gave it to me, and wants me to use it. He has terminal cancer. I really want to use this gun in his honor. Can any of you fine gentlemen or ladies refer me to someone that can go over this gun and get it where it will be reliable and have a smooth trigger pull? I was hoping for someone in Oklahoma, but I just want it done really well. Sending back to Smith and Wesson is my least favored option, as I do want a lighter smoother trigger. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not being rude, but I'm not asking for opinions. Only someone that can get the gun up and running. As far as the gun being worth a great dollar value, I do not care if it's only worth $.50 after I get it fixed and use it. The relationship between myself and bud is closer than that of brothers. You should know being a veteran. Once you fight, bleed, and win with buddy/partner, that's worth more than gold. (and more than one time) And due to his current health status, I want to give him the satisfaction and joy of me accomplishing something with something he gave me. I would not take a million dollars for that gun. I guess part of that comes from being a Marine. Semper Fi.... In all aspects.

IN RESPNOSE, I DELETED MY PREVIOUS REPLY, WHICH WAS PREFACED BY, "IMHO-". IT WAS PURELY MY OPINION, WHICH WAS OF NO VALUE TO YOU.....

I UNDERSTAND YOUR SITUATION COMPLETELY. WERE I IN YOUR SHOES, I WOULD FEEL THE EXACT SAME WAY. THE BONDS FORGED IN THE CAULDRON OF WAR, WILL NEVER BE BROKEN......

YOU MIGHT TRY DISCUSSING YOUR PROBLEM WITH DENNIS REICHARD AT SAND BURR GUN RANCH, LOCATED IN ROCHESTER, INDIANA (ABOUT 750 MI FROM YOU). HE IS MASSAD AYOOB'S GUNSMITH OF CHOICE, FOR S&W REVOLVERS. HE ALSO HAS A SOFT SPOT IN HIS HEART FOR US VETERANS. ONCE HE LEARNS THE PARTICULARS OF YOUR SITUATION, I AM CERTAIN THAT HE WILL BE MOTIVATED TO HELP YOU......

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PROJECT, AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR BROTHER IN ARMS.........

Thank you Very Much for the info, And for your service to our Country. A little about my bud, Gary. My daughter calls him Uncle Gary. He gave her her first gun when she was about 5. He would literally give you the clothes he was wearing if you are in need. I saw him cut the patches off of a duty jacket one night to give to a homeless elderly man that had been mugged, and his vehicle/home stolen. This man wasn't a bum, but had a long string of catastrophes. Got hurt on joh, couldn't return to work, wife divorced him and took everything except his vehicle. He was not a beggar, and diligently looked for work. Anyway, he got mugged, it was cold. Thug stole his vehicle and contents, beat him pretty severely, and left him in the cold. Gary and I got this call too. He is one of the finest men I have or will ever meet, and certainly work with. I will do anything, short of sin, to try to make him smile and make him feel a little better. Anyway, sorry for the lengthy story. Sometimes it's just hard. Especially since I can't fight this battle for him. Thanks again for the info. I appreciate it.

I follow a smith on Facebook who shows a lot of his work that is nicely done.....he is in Broken Arrow. TC gunsmithing.
