There is a directory:

C/documents and settings/(my initials)/local settings/temp

That has over the years accumulated 2.7 GB.

Anyone know if I can clean this out?

Absolutely.
That temp folder doesn't hold anything you need to keep.

I clean mine out almost daily. Do you leave your computer running 24/7?

That's all? I run the CCleaner about once a week and it eliminates 200-500mb. I'm using Windows 7 though, doesn't seem to slow down for any reason. Joe

You can get rid of the contents of that folder as well as that of C:\WINDOWS\TEMP

Navigate to either folder and hit the <alt> and <a> keys simultaneously. That will select all files in the folder. Hit the <delete> key to delete them.

In all likelihood there will be a few files in use, which you cannot delete. Just hold down the <control> key and left click on the file that Windows says it can't delete. That will deselect it. Then hit <delete> again. Repeat until all of the files that can be deleted are gone.

go to my computer. right click your c drive. select "disk cleanup". Follow the prompts.
Since you haven't done this before, it may take a while.

As noted, you can dump everything in those folders. However you will have to re-login and any web site where you've used the "remember me" option during login because that is where the cookies for this option are stored.

Since this question has already been answered and I hate to see everyone else left out I'll just say "How about them Braves?" their doing pretty good this year.

A suggestion for you: After you clear all that go to tools, then internet options. It will give you a box to check that will clear all that **** when you close your browser. That will keep all that from accumulating. It will also clear all the files you have in that directory now that you are asking about. With that much junk in it it's going to take a while though. Let us know if any of our fixes worked.
