Came back from the range the other day and after cleaning the M&P 9mm, I noticed that the trigger felt strange. It was stiff when dry firing and when the slide had not been cycled, it felt like it was sticking. Took the slide off and tested the trigger and it was smooth and normal. Checked the striker safety and noticed that it was not traveling smoothly when depressed (almost like the spring was binding or the plunger was out of shape. No problems while at the range, just after the range session. Checked the M&P 45 and it did not exhibit the odd feeling. Any ideas on what could be causing this condition? Dirt/crude in the striker safety channel, dirt/crud under the plunger? Have not removed the striker safety (such a pain to remove the rear sight to get to it, but may have to go that route). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

You may not need to remove the rear sight or striker block.
It may be time to clean the striker, etc.
At the very least, striker disassembly is easier than disturbing your rear sight & the ensuing sighting back it, etc. With the striker removed, you should be able to clean around the striker block & give a shot of compressed air if available, then maybe a small bit of lubricant.

Here's a video on how to remove the striker assembly.

Good luck.

I have removed the striker and cleaned the striker, striker channel and the striker safety, but it has not made any improvements. I'll think give S&W a call on Monday. Thanks.
