Hello,

I recently purchased my AR15-22 and have begun the attachment phase of this fine weapon!! Ran into a snag as I ordered a MI HD single point sling QD but it does not fit. Need someone to point me in the right direction on much stock mount fits the AR. I have seen some guns with a mount (see lowdown's weapons) but a name of the device is never listed. any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

All but the one on the far right will work on the 15-22. They slide on from the back and clamp on the the tube instead of using a castle nut to hold them on like an ar-15. Keep in mind the stock has to come off, so if you have a pinned stock you have more work to do.

Daniel Defense makes one that comes apart so you don't have to remove the stock.

I was looking at the DD mount as well because since I'm in NJ, my stock is pinned and cannot be easily removed to get the MI plate in. My only problem with the DD mount is that it was very think from what I could tell in the pics I found some time ago.

Anyone know how difficult it is to remove the pin from the stock so I can slide it off then install a MI mount?

Are you thinking of putting this on a 5.56 AR or a .22 one? If you're using it on a 15-22, I'd bet tomorrow's lunch that this mount would long outlive any plastic part on your rifle. DD is solid stuff.

Right, people have to file down the flat section at the bottom of the mount so that it'll fit over our tube. Unless it's done right, the end result looks crappy.

I think for me, the best thing will be to find a way to unpin the stock. Anyone have any experience with this?

No doubt the DD items are spot on. I have a flashlight mount and quad-rail handguard and love the quality and finish. The problem with that mount is that while it will fit an AR-15 buffer tube with no problem, it wont fit the 15-22 tube as well. If you look closely, the tubes are shaped a little different so some modification will be required. Either on the mount itself or on the tube.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I researched this some time ago so something new may have come up.

I'll let you know in a couple days. I can't imagine there being a lot of difference, when the stocks are easily interchangeable between mil-spec buffer tubes. The pin on the bottom of the DD mount does have to come out, but beyond that I'm not expecting any other mods (hopefully!).

the dd one didn't fit. you would have to file off the guide on part of the tube.

unpinning actually wasn't too bad, but that's provided you can actually get a grip on the pin to just pull it out. it's vastly easier if you aren't adjusting it or drilling new holes.

Not to nit pick, but we are talking about Commercial tubes. Correct?

I have to double check my stock. If the pin is installed all the way through I may just be able to push it out as long as there aren't any other spots that are glued. If the pin is pushed in half way and there is no hole on the other side, then it'll be a b1tch to make enough room for a needle nose pliers to grab the edge of that tiny pin or drilling it out without messing up too much of the tube.

Damn these NJ restrictions!

honestly though i'm still using a black zip tie and keyring as a sling point. works especially well with the shortened stock as there isn't much room for it to slide around.

You were completely right. Got mine in the mail today and it's not even close. I'm sending it back to exchange for the MCTAR30. I wish I had read this thread about a week ago! :)

Can you grab some close up pics of how they fit?

The DD version is already on its way back to Primary Arms. I can shoot the MCTAR when it gets here, but there are some pretty good shots of that one on one of the last pages of the picture thread. As for the DD version...it almost looked like it was made for a completely different rifle. Not even close.
