Need some Help

'm a first owner of a S & W pistol and need so help. I received a SD9 VE for Christmas. I'm put 150 rounds through the gun so far. So I decided to field strip it and give it a good cleaning. I did have trouble with the takedown catch but finally mastered it after several tries. Now here is the problem . I could not get the slide to come off and when I tried to clear the weapon prior to breaking it down the trigger did not click like it's suppose to . I believe the slide was hanging up on the sear, so I pulled off the back plate and pulled out the firing pin assembly and was able to get the slide off the frame. Any suggestions , please help

I'm no expert on these but if you don't shortly hear from someone who is I'll bet youtube has a bunch of assembly/disassembly/troubleshooting videos.
