One of my good friends has a Son graduating from Army Helicopter Repair School in Virginia next week and before he gets deployed to Hawaii they are throwing him a party when he is home on leave after the graduation. I would like to get him a nice gift but have no clue as to what to get him. He is just about to turn 22 years old and I am at a loss as to a gift.

Any suggestions on something he would be allowed to take with him would be great.

I got my son a custom Benchmade for his graduation from Army flight school.
Had his name one one side with a Chinook helicopter engraved on the other.

A 3/8 ratchet, every mechanic uses one a lot, maybe a Snap-On ( I know they are overpriced, but this is a significant occasion) or other GOOD one. Stanley makes a nice good quality one too, with nice smooth chrome. Sears sells several versions, pick the nicest.
Have it engraved, perhaps with his name and the graduation date. Or something meaningful.
I think even the TSA will have a hard time refusing him bringing it on board a plane, unlike a knife.
BUT, I love the idea of the engraved knife as well. And that he can carry with him everywhere BUT on a plane, unlike the ratchet.

You're a good friend to your friend, btw!

Well these are all excellent ideas and I thank you all. The knife Bugkiller99 shows is perfect!! If he would be kind enough to let me know where he bought it, I would be very appreciative!! Thank you all guys!! :)

You can order it straight from Benchmade. The Mini Griptilian would be a good choice and can be customized.

TODAYS KID IN TODAYS WORLD.

If I can stop retching for a moment, a new I-phone with all the bells & whistles. If this is what he would like, you have failed as a parent.

OK!
I was also thinking knife.
That’s apparently too bland for some folks.
And the Army is sending him to Hawaii?
I hate it when that happens!
So maybe a condolences card.
And don’t forget to put some money in the envelope.
Fun ain’t free in the Coconut Islands.
