Other than this is where my first serial killer migrated from years ago, I know nothing about Corvallis. LSU is slated to play in the regionals there starting Friday. I need to know about the permissability of street drinking as well as the friendliness of the local ladies, If I come I WILL bring beads and other Mardi Gras swag for barter ;)

About an hour and a half south from PDX by car and about a half hour from the state capital Salem and about an hour east of the Pacific Coast, nice town with most of the amenities of a large city, weather is absolutely beautiful this time of year, they closed the paper mill about 15 years back so the stink is gone.

Met a few nice ladies there in my youth, I'm sure there is still some lovely ladies there still. I have family there and will be visiting them next weekend.

To me, it's not near the town it once was as recent as 20 years ago . The Willamette Valley is truly a thing to behold.

Oregon is an open carry state and Corvallis is an open carry town, but you won't be able to carry into any stadium.

Iffin I had free time I would strongly recommend a drive to the Oregon coast.

Edited to add that the only serial killer I have ever met was also from Corvallis, I forgot his name as I only knew him by his assumed name..

Which begs the Question

Just how many Serial Killers have you had?

Represented two of them. Both dead now. First was found not guilty by reason of insanity-sent to the forensic institute and about four months after he was there decided to rip his throat out by running it through the table saw in the shop. The last one was convicted and sentenced to die in another parish, which resulted in the dismissal of the case I was defending as he already has one life sentence and the death sentence in two other parishes. He cheated the hangman though-caught a heart attack in prison and died. I meet some nice people in this line of work  On the whole, I'd much rather go up to Corvallis, drink some of the local brew and watch me some base-a-ball :D

Try this then. There are other brewpubs in Corvallis, but you can’t come to NW Oregon without hanging out at a McMenamins. I started drinking at their pubs when they only had a few locations on the westside of Portland in the mid-1980s, and still do. By now they’re up to over 50 places, including two distilleries.

McMenamins Corvallis - McMenamins

An insane serial killer in a shop with a table saw?

Yeah, makes perfect sense to me.

Was dealing with a 60 something phychiatrist on another unrelated case and we were discussing our strangest mental health cases. This guy came up. Her eyes got wide and she explained that she had just started working at the forensic institute several months after this happened. Apparently this guy pretty much set the bar on paranoia, delusions, hearing voices and just plain old bat**** crazy. Never could get his meds straight.......I always felt sorry for his parents..........

Corvalis is 75 miles SW of Boring.

Don't slow down for Corvalis. Keep heading west to Newport, a fabulous town.

Mississippi State fan here. I hope I am not in any way hijacking this thread, but College baseball has been brought up. College baseball is a great sport, and tournament time can be great fun. I have enjoyed our rivalry with LSU over the years. LSU has had some great teams over the years and got the best of us this year (3 of 4 or 4 of 4?). I don't know who you pair up with for a super regional, but I hope LSU makes it to Omaha. My Bulldogs go as a #2 seed to the Tallahassee regional. It will likely be a little more difficult for us to make Omaha. On the other hand, our in-state rivals, ole miss, has an excellent chance of getting there. If LSU gets another shot at them in Omaha, well, Geaux Tigers!

Sounds like a good deal to me! Yep, the former head coach situation was terrible - really hurt the team, the university, the fanbase, and most important, his family. He had a bright future in college baseball, and threw it away for - better not say it, I don't want to get banned - not the first to throw it away like that. The rumor is that going forward we may hire Schlossnagle (I am unsure of the spelling) from TCU. Henderson has done a good job as interim coach, considering all that has happened. We took 3 out of 4 from ole miss, when they were ranked #3, swept Arkansas when they were #3, and swept Florida when they were ranked #1. Still just 15-15 in the SEC though.

Besides being a State grad, I also graduated from - well, I prefer to say the University of Mississippi Law School, rather than ole miss - that has nothing to do with political correctness, and everything to do with the rivalry! They have had a good season and been playing well lately, and deserve their national seed. But I remain a loyal Bulldog.

Maybe we ought to start a NCAA baseball tournament thread Friday and continue it though the CWS?
